Our Story

Reads for Paeds began as an initiative started by the Queens Medical School Class of 2017, with the goal of providing educational children’s books that could serve as a resource for young patients and their families, to demystify their diagnosed diseases. Since then, Reads for Paeds has continued to be run by Queens medical students passionate about children’s literature and the care of young patients. We have produced over 15 books, each focusing on an important medical condition or situation.

We passionately volunteer our time outside of medical school to produce these books, and each book is shared as a free copyright-protected electronic download, or sold at cost. The tools required to produce and share our books are supported by annual funding allocated to Queens medical student volunteer groups.
